Aircraft Entry

The aircraft entry form has 5 pages on information about each aircraft. The Type field is the one which will appear in the dropdowns and contains the text that is searched for when determining which rules to use for the logbook entry.

Info:

The labels checkmark determines if the second set of labels will be used. Below this is the Time Mode dropdown which determines how time is displayed and which decimal conversion table to use, if any. The Home and Hrs As Of date are not used right now, but the Hrs As Of refers to the bulk hours logged on the next 2 pages.

Also, set the category, class, etc. for the aircraft. These values can be used to filter data.

If "In Lists" is not checked, then the aircraft does not appear in dropdowns.

Acft:

This is one of 2 bulk hours sections. You can enter starting hours for each of the 12 time fields and the first 6 counter fields. The DUR in the upper right is the overall time for Acft hours when Acft tab is selected.

These should be the times as of the date shown on the first page in case that value becomes used in the future.

Sim:

This is the same as the Acft bulk hours section. You'll notice that the DUR field is still in the upper right, but the value may change. This also represents the Simulator total hours when the Sim tab is selected.

Auto: (More information in Automation section)

WARNING: Make sure you understand how these options work as they set values behind the scenes without user-intervention.

This is the most complex and powerful section. It defines how certain fields can be filled automatically when that aircraft is used in a logbook entry. If these fields are left blank (-NA-) then that automatic function is disabled. Also, these settings only apply if they are set at the time an entry is edited. In other words, changing these values will not affect previous entries, unless you edit those entries again.

Starting from the top, this dropdown lets you define your default crew position. The "Self" value from the preferences page will be entered in this crew position.

The next line can be read like this: If "Sim" is checked, then "PSI" is set to the Dur value, and if not checked, then "Inst" is set to the Dur value. This could be handy, for example, if you always log PIC when you are in command.

Next, you can select a single field that is ALWAYS set to Dur.

The next line allows you to split the time between 2 values. For example, you could use this to split time between Night and Day. The first field is the controlling field. (i.e., the second field is set to the Dur minus the first field, overwriting any value you set in it manually).

The next line allows you to set a counter field ("Ldg" in the example to the left) to a set value.

Finally, you can choose an expense field that will be set to the given amount times Dur. This is particularly handy for estimating pay or aircraft rental costs. Because some aircraft are outfitted differently, the Tail # section supports the option of overriding this setting.

Notes:

Not much to say about this. Just a place to enter freeform notes about the aircraft.
