PalmLog Pro allows you to customize the logbook to the way you like
to work. Four pages of preferences give you more options than any other
palm logbook. Each option is described below, along with how you can expect
the program to respond. Pay special attention to the bold maroon items as these will affect
the speed of the program.
The "Layout" button is on all pages and takes you into layout
mode of the edit page. See the Layout section
for more details on this.

GENERAL:
Splash Page - Show the
About box on program startup. This option has no effect for an unregistered
copy.
Lock Entries - This will "Lock"
an entry while viewing to prevent accidental changes. If left locked,
it will also speed up viewing of entries as the program doesn't look for
changes before leaving the screen.
AutoCalc Currency - If this option is not
checked, you will have to tap on the RECALC button to force a recalculation.
With AutoCalc selected, Currency will be calculated whenever you view
the currency page, making the program run a little slower.
Scroll by page - move
through a page of data at a time instead of one at a time.
Show Exp Symbol - This
will show the symbol in the field next to it in Expense (Exp) fields and
will calculate the number correctly if this symbol is in the field. The
number next to "Dec" is the number of decimal places in Exp
fields.
Date Mode - This affects
how the date is displayed throughout the program. The version without
slashes is usually fully visible on all pages.
User Days - These are
user-defined day ranges that appear in the "Dates" dropdown
filter. These are in addition to the 7, 28, 30, 60, 90 and 365 days. These
filter the entries by last XX days.
Today counts -
IMPORTANT: This determines if today counts as one for the days
filter mentioned above. For example, if this is checked and you have a
day filter of "1" then only today's entries would show. If you
had this unchecked, then today and yesterday would show. NOTE:
This also affects currency, so if you set 30 hours in last 7 days, this
would determine if it is today and the 6 days prior or today and the 7
days prior.
Wide Col1 - (New
for v1.2) - This widens the first column of the main list
to accommodate a wide date on the first column. This
option will probably be dropped in a future version in favor of user defined
numbers of columns and widths.
Hide Filter Num- If this is checked, then
the main page will show "???/###". This means that the program
won't count how many items are in the current filter. Selecting this speeds
up the program because the program would have to go through all the records
and compare to the filter to count how many apply before actually showing
the entries. If you only set a category filter, then you won't notice
any speed difference.
Enable Hilites - Select
this if you want highlighting of certain items on the main page and on
the currency page. The highlighting is meant to draw your attention to
items that might need your attention. See the "Main Page" and
"Currency Page" for more details on what is highlighted.
Enable Gray - Only available
on non-color Palms with PalmOs 3.0 or higher. If you select this, the
program will go into grayscale mode. Icons will be in grayscale and the
highlighting mentioned above will be different. If you find the program
is too dark, adjust the contrast or turn off this item. Some palm devices
are always too dark when in grayscale mode.

DEFAULTS:
Date - Select either
"Last Dt" and new entries will have the same date as the last
edited item, or "Current Dt" and new entries will have today's
date.
Acft/Tail - Either copy
the "Last" or use the item in the dropdown if this box is deselected.
From - Like above, except
"Last" will copy the arrival field from the last record.
Copy Last Crew - This
will copy all members of the crew from the last item. This will make the
records bigger. If your crew doesn't change during the day, I would just
put the names on the first flight of the day to save PalmOs RAM.
Default Time Mode -
This only functions when the program can't determine based on aircraft
which Time Mode to use for displaying times. Usually, this will affect
how the Totals page appears when there isn't a specific aircraft set in
the filter.

QUICK-FILL:
No scrollers on fields
- This will remove the little scroll buttons from numeric fields. These
buttons let you quickly increment or decrement the values in fields. NOTE:
If this is checked, scrolling of values using the hardware scroll button
is also disabled.
First tap on counter
= 1 - If this is set, then tapping on a counter field (like Leg or Ldg)
will set the value to one (if it is currently zero).
Tap on empty time =
dur - Like above, tapping on a time field will set the field to equal
the Dur value.
Enable Auto for Scheduled
- By default, none of the automatic calculations (including the 2 options
above) operate on entries in the future ("Scheduled"). If you
check this, then all auto calculations (from prefs and aircraft auto section)
apply to "scheduled" items.
Enable Time and Count
popups - If this is set, then tapping on a counter field, time field,
of clock field label will popup a list of values offset from the current
value. The current value will be highlighted and in the middle and 6 values
above and below will be in the list. This is a quick way to change a value
by a couple increments.

PICKLISTS:
Automemorize - When saving an entry, the
program can automatically add items to the databases. Acft are saved using
the first label set and H:M time mode. Pick items are saved to the appropriate
picklist database. Crew names are parsed based on the "Last Name
First" checkbox below. As the supporting databases get larger, the
program searches through them to see if values are unique and adds items
if they are not. You will notice that items save faster if fewer of these
options are selected (when the DBs start to get large). NOTE: The Smart
Ordering below also relies on this option. If an item is not automemorized,
then it is also NOT updated for sorting.
Last Name First - This
determines how to display names in the dropdown AND how to save names
when they are automemorized.
Smart Ordering: Supporting
databases can be sorted in different ways affecting their order in the
dropdowns. Most Recent and Most Used require automemorize above to be
set for proper operation. This setting affects all dropdowns listed under
Automemorize.
Most Used - The most
often used items will appear at the top of the dropdown list.
Most recent - The most
recently used items appear at the top of the list.
Alpha - simple alphabetical
sorting.
Home at Top - If this
is set, then the value in the dropdown will appear near the top of all
airfield dropdowns. Typically, the current value is at the top of the
list, then blank, then this value followed by the regular list of values.
Self on Top - If this
is set, then the value set in the field will appear near the top of "Crew"
dropdowns.
Smart Popups (New
for v1.2) - This enables a new feature of the edit page popups.
With this
option enabled, the popups will use the current text of an entry field
to search to an appropriate spot in the listbox. With
this option enabled, you should consider enabling "Alpha" smart
ordering. If
you experience long delays when tapping on a field label to get a popup,
you may want to consider turning off this option.

MISC: (NEW
for v1.2)
Tap Recalc Dur - With this option enabled, tapping
a duration field, even one that is non-zero, will cause it to recalculate
based on the associated clock fields.
Always CalcDur - With this option enabled, the
duration fields are always recalculated when pages are changed or information
is saved. If
you do not store clock times in your logbook, you should not enable this
option or your duration fields will always be reset to zero.
Dur to use for Auto Calc - Select which duration
field is used by the program (for primary and secondary label set aircraft)
for "Dur" calculations. This
includes the "Auto" section of the aircraft record and Tap=Dur
preferences. These
settings DO NOT affect the "Split Times Dialog"
