Software Registration

Because Front Beach Systems uses the "Try before you buy" approach and provides complete software products which require unlock keys to remove various limitations, you should understand how to get the proper registration key.

Most unlock keys are dependent on information received from you and vary according to the program and operating system/device.  Most handheld devices have an ID of some type that is used to generate an unlock key.

PalmOS devices (HotSync Name/PUN):  Programs for this type of device typically use the HotSync Name (or PUN - Personal User Name).  With Front Beach Systems products, you can find this name on the about page that comes up each time you start an unregistered product.  You can also find it in the top right corner of the HotSync utility on the palm device.  NOTE:  Keys are case and punctuation sensitive so provide this information exactly as shown, including international characters.

PocketPC devices (Owner Name):  Programs for this type of device typically use the Owner Name when generating a key.  Again, this information will be found on the about page.  Alternatively, you can find it by tapping on the "Start" button in the upper left corner of the PocketPC, then selecting "Settings" from the menu.  Tap on "Owner Information" and use the data from the "Name" field.  Devices that have a blank Name field cannot have a valid unlock key generated, so you should set an appropriate value.  NOTE:  Keys are case and punctuation sensitive so provide this information exactly as shown, including international characters.

RegCodes:  RegCodes are used on both the PalmOS and PocketPC devices.  They are typically found in the about page on the line below the HotSync/PUN or Owner Name.  They consist of a series of 2 character pairs separated by colons (e.g. "1A:2B:3C:4D").  Some key generation systems may require this data instead of the above options.  The RegCode will also catch "hidden" characters, like extra spaces, and typos.  Because of this, you should send this in addition to the above data if you receive an invalid key for a handheld device.

Keys:  When you receive a key from a vendor or Front Beach Systems, you should enter this key to unlock the software.  On a handheld device (Palm/PocketPC), you will enter the value in the "Key" space provided on the About page.

For Windows products, you will typically receive a notification screen each time you start a trial product or when a temporary key is about to expire.  You can click on "Enter Key" to register the product.  In the first line, you should enter the User Name as provided in your confirmation email and in the unlock key field, enter the key you received in the same email.  To prevent typos, you should consider using "Cut and Paste" to enter this data.

If you have entered a temporary key and need to enter a permanent key, you should be able to do this using the About box or a "Register" menu item depending on the product.  See the program documentation for more detailed information.
