This page presents options for using this program in conjunction with a handheld.
"PC correct when there are data conflicts" – If a logbook entry has been tagged as edited on the PC and the handheld, the PC version will be assumed correct if this option is set.
"Palm User Name (PUN)" – Choose which device will sync with this logbook. Only one handheld logbook is supported.
"PocketPC Device name" – Choose which device will sync with this logbook. Only one handheld logbook is supported.
Sync settings – select the type of synchronization you want with the handheld.
"Two-way sync" – Updates the desktop data from the handheld and copies data to the handheld based on the "two-way sync options" below.
"Handheld overwrites desktop" – The desktop database is emptied and replaced with the data on the handheld.
"Desktop overwrites handheld" – The handheld database is emptied and replaced with the data on the desktop.
Two-way sync options – These only apply if the "Two-way" sync setting is selected
"Sync All Data" – This will keep all data on the handheld and the PC. This option is not recommended if you have a large number of entries as it will slow down the handheld version and use more of the handheld memory.
"Empty Handheld" – This option will store all the data on the PC and empty the handheld database after each sync. No data will be on the handheld. This may be useful for people that have limited memory on their handhelds and only want to enter new flights without seeing totals, etc.
"Keep xxx Days" – This option allows you to set how many days worth of entries are kept on the handheld device. This is the most versatile option as it allows you to limit the amount of data kept on the handheld. Set the number of days worth of complete data you want kept on the device and choose this option if you want to conserve space and still have data on trips. This is the default setting, with 365 days set.
"Picklist items from the handheld…" – If a picklist item is synced from the handheld, it will automatically be tagged as "ToHH" so it will be synced back to the device. Picklist items are not synced with PalmLog v1.x and the number of items on the handhelds is limited (10 aircraft, 50 airfields and 50 tail numbers).
"Create Dummy records…" – This option will create a number of "dummy" records to represent historical data. It is to keep the totals valid. For example, if you only sync 365 days worth of data, previous information will be represented through "dummy" records (each with a maximum of 1000 hours). These entries will not be synced to the PC logbook and any changes made to the dummy records on the handheld will be lost. The dummy records will have a date prior to the actual data and no tail number or airfield data.
"On first Sync…" – This option is only effective for the first sync with a handheld device. It is set by default and will overwrite the category list on the PC with the list from the handheld.
