The preferences are divided into 4 pages and affect various program operations:
General:
Start Options determine the state of the program when you first start it.
"Show splash screen" – Unchecking this option disable the program splash screen that displays for a couple seconds on program startup.
"Start logbook full screen" – Normally, the logbook window position and size is remembered and restored when you start the program. If this option is checked, the program will start maximized and fill the screen.
"Start View" – With "None" selected, only the "Logbook Info" page will be opened on startup. If you choose "Logbook Grid" or "Entry details", that page will also be opened and made the active view.
Display/Mode options let you choose how your information is displayed. NOTE: These options are for this program and will NOT transfer to any handheld devices.
"Time Mode" – This option affects display and automatic calculations. If you choose one of the decimal formats, the program will calculate the decimal based on the selected conversion chart, then store it as a multiple of 6 minutes. If you subsequently change to an Hour:Minute format, the display will show the 6 minute rounded value. Also, switching from H:M to a decimal format may lose precision as it is rounded to the nearest 6 minutes.
H+M – Simple Hour:Minute display.
H+M (5 minute) – Hour:Minute display rounded to the nearest 5 minute interval.
Civ Decimal A - Standard civilian minute to decimal conversion.
Civ Decimal B – Alternate civilian minute to decimal conversion.
USAF Decimal – US Air Force minute to decimal.
USA Decimal – US Army conversion chart.
USN Decimal – US Navy conversion chart.
"Date Mode" – This affects how dates are displayed throughout the program. This allows you to customize the logbook appearance without affecting other programs. Choose from "D/M/Y" (Day, Month, Year), "M/D/Y" (Month, Day, Year) or "Y/M/D" (Year, Month, Day). This does not affect any display setting on the handheld.
"Show Totals row in grid" – When this option is set, the logbook grid view will display a single line totals summary at the bottom of the list. This option is provided for older computers and large logbooks as it may slow down the logbook if enabled.
"Expense Symbol" – You may set up to 3 characters to represent the currency for the expense field. By default, it is set as " $ " (a dollar sign with spaces on each side). Although it appears as a single character, this is actually a 3 character symbol. The spaces were added to improve the display appearance.
"Expense Decimals" – Set the number of decimal places in the expense field (up to 4).
Day settings affect how the 30-60-90 tracker and day filters operate.
Current day counts as a day - with this option set, 7 days would look at the current day and the 6 previous days. Unset, 7 days would be the current day and the 7 previous days.
Include Simulators - With this option set, the 30-60-90 tracker will include simulators.
Days - Set the 3 day settings (1-999) for use in the 30-60-90 tracker.
Zulu Time Adjustment - Use this to define the adjustment of the PC clock to the logbook clock. If you are using a Zulu clock in the logbook, simply set the Z to time-zone correction for you PCs clock. This adjustment will be used in the 30-60-90 tracker if the option is set.
Warnings are confirmation dialogs that popup when you select an action in the program. They are self-explanatory.
Confirm when closing logbook.
Confirm when canceling changes.
Confirm when deleting entries.
Confirm when saving entries.
Defaults:
"Copy Information from the last entry" – When an entry is edited/saved, that data is stored and used to help fill in a new entry.
Default Values if not copied – If the copy option is not set, the information in this section is used for new entries.
Aircraft – Choose one of the aircraft from the dropdown.
Tail – No dropdown, just enter your desired tail number.
FROM Airfield – No dropdown, enter the airfield you wish to start new flights from.
In Command – Set this if you want the in command setting checked for new entries.
"Use the current date for new entries" – If you have the copy info option set, the date of the last entry will be used unless this option is checked.
Labels:
"Use Military label set" – Set the military label set as the default instead of the civilian.
Grid – Use the grid to set the desired labels for the different fields. Enter the civilian labels in the column below "Civ" and military below "Mil". The far right column shows which fields are used in the 1.x version of PalmLog. None of the labels transfer to PalmLog v1.x. All labels and fields sync with FB FltLog for PalmOS v2.x and FB FltLog for PocketPC v1.x.
Use the "Hide in Grid" option to customize the grid appearance.
Categories:
Enter up to 16 categories. They must be entered in order and can only be deleted from the bottom category. Delete an entry by removing all the text. Categories are limited to 16 entries and 15 characters for compatibility with the PalmOS versions.
